Two military families who came to the Warrior Beach Retreat were so struck by the appreciation they received from the local community, they decided to stay.
PANAMA CITY BEACH — When two military families from Colorado arrived for the Warrior Beach Retreat in April, they were so struck by the appreciation they received from the local community, they decided to stay — permanently.
Medically retired Army veterans Morkey Dove and Dana Rimmer, who both served multiple tours in Iraq, were among the warrior invited to this spring’s weeklong excursion in Panama City Beach. Along with them were their wives, Amanda Dove and Tona Rimmer, who met at nursing school in 2012. They all ate out at restaurants and enjoyed themselves, with the men going fishing and the women taking a spa day.
“It was very relaxing,” Dana Rimmer said. “Nothing was pressured on us. It was an easy, laid-back setting.”
